Original plans for last night’s (Sat., July 27, 2019) WWE Smackville event in Nashville included Shinsuke Nakamura defending his Intercontinental championship against Finn Balor. Then, at the top of the broadcast, it was announced he wasn’t cleared to compete and would be replaced by Ali.
That led to obvious speculation that he was injured but PW Insider is reporting that’s not the case and instead he’s come down with an illness. It’s unclear what that illness is but obviously it was enough to keep him from wrestling.
Balor is currently scheduled to wrestle Bray Wyatt at SummerSlam on Aug. 11 in Toronto. Other reports indicate he’s taking a couple month break after that match.
It sounds like the time off can’t get here soon enough.
