Kofi Kingston title defense headlines a random new WWE Network event

WWE.com

Smackville population; a whole lot of confused pro wrestling fans.

Born from thin air, today (Jul. 18) WWE announced a new Network special is set for Sat. July, 27 live from Nashville, Tennessee.

WWE.com has all the details and breakdown of the card.

“The explosive in-ring action will include a main event Triple Threat Match for the WWE Championship in which Kofi Kingston will be challenged by Dolph Ziggler and Samoa Joe. In addition, newly crowned Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura will go head-to-head with former titleholder Finn Bálor in a rematch from WWE Extreme Rules. The evening will also feature a special musical performance by Elias.”

Content is content. Who doesn’t love more content? Seems like a slippery slope when WWE is already asking their fans to watch five to eight hours of new programming every single week.

SummerSlam is a little over three weeks away and yet WWE is adding another item to get fans through the dog days of summer. Besides the amazing name of the event, why would WWE shoehorn Smackville into their schedule?
