Daniel Bryan & Rowan, the planet’s champions, faced a tall task at tonight’s (Sun., July 14, 2019) WWE Extreme Rules pay-per-view (PPV) at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. They were tasked with defending the SmackDown tag team titles in a triple threat match against both Heavy Machinery and The New Day.
They failed to do so.
The match was fairly standard, until it broke down into the chaos typical of multiple-team match-ups like this. That ultimately favored Big E and Xavier Woods.
E caught Bryan in mid-air on a backflip and turned that into the Big Ending, where Woods came in and scored the pin to take the titles and kick off their sixth tag team title reign.
After the win, they went backstage to celebrate with Kofi Kingston but had their interview interrupted by Paul Heyman.
