In something of a surprise, WWE opened tonight’s (Sun., July 14, 2019) Extreme Rules pay-per-view (PPV) from the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with Undertaker & Roman Reigns teaming up to take on Shane McMahon & Drew McIntyre.
If nothing else, the crowd was hot, notably receiving Reigns well (this city has not been kind to him in the past).
Undertaker, for his part, looked downright spry in comparison to the last time we saw him. So much so that just minutes into the match, Philly was chanting “you still got it.” Of course, this was while Shane O’Mac was feeding for him.
They also gave us a nice showdown between “The Phenom” and McIntyre, who looks every bit as physically impressive standing across from ‘Taker.
Naturally, the match broke down — No Holds Barred and all that — and Elias, the other one of Shane’s lackeys, showed up to the party with a guitar that he took to Undertaker’s back. That led to a McMahon flying elbow through the announce table, all while Reigns was selling out in the crowd after a Claymore kick from McIntyre. Then, a Coast-to-Coast.
Undertaker, of course, recovered with his patented sit up, following that up with a chokeslam to McMahon and Elias. Reigns reappeared to save him from McIntyre with a spear. Then “The Big Dog” threw McMahon over to Undertaker for the Tombstone and the pinfall.
