WWE Extreme Rules 2019 results: The Revival retain

When it was announced that the Graveyard Dogs would kick off the main card at Extreme Rules, many wondered who would get the job of following the Undertaker. Turns out, WWE brass went with a match that was almost certain to deliver great wrestling.

Would it lead to The Revival’s second title reign continuing? Or the start of the seventh run for The Usos?

For the first several minutes, it was impossible to tell. Jimmy & Jey and Dash Wilder & Scott Dawson had answers for everything their opponents offered, as you’d expect from two teams who’ve been feuding since WrestleMania more than three months ago. But the champions used some good old fashioned tag team tactics to clothesline Jey on the outside and take control of the match.

The Top Guys used strategy to distract referee John Cone when Jey finally made a tag. Not having seen it, the official forced Jimmy back to his corner.

A nasty spill after Jey fought off a Dawson superplex attempt finally brought the fresher twin into the match, but Wilder survived until his partner was ready to go again. The superplex eventually worked, and Dash followed with a splash, but Jimmy hit a splash of his own to save the match.

All four men were down, and they paired off to brawl. Things broke down from there, and Dawson grabbed Jey’s leg to prevent him from diving with his brother onto his partner. A short time later, it was a Shatter Machine on Jimmy that kept the belts on the Top Guys.

Is this the official end of the rumors that have followed The Revival since the spring? Whether they continue or not, they’re still the Raw Tag Team champs.
