Stephanie McMahon to be featured on ESPN’s annual Make-A-Wish series

WWE Community

WWE’s partnership with Make-A-Wish is long-standing and well-known. Fan jokes about how she’s presented on Raw and SmackDown aside, the move toward making WWE Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon the main public face of the company started a few years back.

The two come together for a project with mutual partner ESPN for the sports network’s annual “My Wish” series, which airs on their flagship program, SportsCenter. This year’s edition of the week-long feature starts tomorrow (Sat., July 13) and runs through the following Thursday (July 18). In addition to McMahon, other wish-granters will include the Colorado Rockies, YouTubers Dude Perfect, NHL all-star goaltender Marc-André Fleury of the Vegas Golden Knights, and 2018 Rookie of the Year Saquon Barkley of the New York Giants.

It’s the 14th year ESPN is running the series, which sees Chris Connelly interview critically ill wish-recipients and their families before and after their experiences, along with footage of those experiences. Here’s the description of Steph’s segment, which is set to air on Tues., July 16:

Rhianna Sammut is a 17-year-old from the UK whose systemic mastocytosis has caused her severe pain, bullying and near-total isolation. Rhianna’s outlook changes as she lives out her WWE dreams for two days in America, where she’s celebrated by her favorite wrestlers and gets to meet her role model: WWE chief brand officer Stephanie McMahon.

Good publicity for WWE, sure. But good stuff for the world, too.
