Extreme Rules is a pay-per-view (PPV) WWE promotes each year that is, in theory, all about getting extreme. It’s in the name and all that. Really, it’s an excuse to book gimmick matches getting about as violent as the company allows these days.
However, this year’s show, scheduled for Sun., July 14, 2019, at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was totally lacking in the extreme department despite five matches being booked for the show.
Until today.
JUST ANNOUNCED: The #WinnersTakeAll #MixedTag Match at @WWE #ExtremeRules pitting #UniversalChampion @WWERollins & #RAW #WomensChampion @BeckyLynchWWE against @BaronCorbinWWE & @LaceyEvansWWE will be an EXTREME RULES MATCH! https://t.co/9FbN3ajSv2

That allows for plenty of gimmickry to get through what should be the blowoff match to two feuds that have lasted far longer than anyone really wanted. And, of course, they can actually get extreme on the extreme show.
