Super ShowDown results: Kofi Kingston beats Dolph Ziggler, retains WWE championship

@WWE

After an actually interesting story that saw a deeply envious Dolph Ziggler make a surprise return to WWE to attack Kofi Kingston for accomplishing everything he could not, the two had a match for the latter’s WWE championship at Super ShowDown in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

If you actually thought WWE would switch the title to Dolph here, I have a bridge to sell you.

Really, the intrigue here was just how good the match would be, considering Ziggler openly stated in interviews recently that he felt like they could tear the house down in the right situation. I’m not entirely sure this show in this location was the right situation, and I doubt anyone would tell you they tore the house down.

Still, it was a fine match.

The story was that Ziggler hit a superkick on Xavier Woods on the outside and so, not long after, Woods took advantage of a distraction and hit a kick of his own that turned Ziggler right into Trouble in Paradise. That was enough to get the three count.

The finish set up another match, however, as Ziggler was interviewed when he got backstage and challenged Kingston to a steel cage match for the title.
