No huge surprise here, but Wrestling Observer confirms what many expected all along - WWE did not get the approval of the Saudi Arabian government to put Alexa Bliss vs. Natalya on the card for Super ShowDown, the pay-per-view (PPV) happening on Fri., June 7 in Jeddah.
Dave Meltzer writes that Saudi officials had at one point indicated WWE could hold the first women’s match in the country on today’s show, which is why Bliss and Natalya flew to the KSA, but the government “then wavered on it”. His report doesn’t rule out the possibility a match was approved for their next event in the Kingdom, believed to be happening some time this fall. If that did get a firm go ahead, there remains a chance Nattie & Alexa could announce that match in King Abdullah International Stadium this afternoon. But that’s all just speculation.
At least the ladies got to put some smiles on faces.
