Following up on reports from earlier today (June 5) which indicated Natalya and Alexa Bliss were en route to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Pro Wrestling Sheet’s sources tell them “WWE officials have been going back and forth with the Saudi General Sports Authority for the past few months trying to get a women’s match approved” for Super ShowDown on Fri., June 7.
It doesn’t sound like there’s any guarantee they’ll get the approval, but apparently Nattie and Bliss will be there in case it comes through.
This would obviously be a big step, seeing as at Greatest Royal Rumble last April, the Sports Authority issued an official apology when members of the women’s roster were shown on the stadium’s screens in their standard wrestling gear. If the Saudis agree to let WWE book a women’s match, it’s safe to assume the performers would be in attire similar to the body suits Bliss and Sasha Banks wore when they wrestled in Abu Dhabi in 2017.
Renee Young made history when she called Crown Jewel in November of 2018. She’s headed to Jeddah and is expected to again be part of the announce team for Super ShowDown.
We’ll update as soon as any other information becomes available.
