WWE advertised Hall of Famer Goldberg in advance - and hit us with a sort of surprise appearance by Undertaker - for SmackDown LIVE on Tues., June 4. It kept the blue brand above two million viewers for the second week in a row.
Unfortunately, despite the lack of live competition from basketball (or even hockey), the audience was about 58K smaller than May 28’s - only hitting 2,016,000. That gave WWE the 8th most watched cable original for the day, behind the usual MSNBC & Fox News shows.
SmackDown did win the ratings battle, sitting atop the cable charts with a .60 share of the overall 18 - 49 year old audience. But that was down even more sharply from the week prior than the number of viewers was.
Brock Lesnar & the promise of a Universal title match, and a promoted Taker appearance drove Raw to increased viewership on Mon., June 3, but WWE wasn’t able to turn that into an increase on Tuesday.
