WWE championship match official for Extreme Rules

Kofi Kingston was so busy dealing with Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn on Monday Night Raw this week he never saw Samoa Joe coming. The WWE champion vanquished KO and Sami in back-to-back matches but was attacked by Joe while celebrating said victory.

The promotion for this week’s episode of SmackDown Live centered on Kingston’s response to that attack but WWE has jumped out ahead of it with a match announcement.

Indeed, Kingston will be putting his WWE championship on the line against Joe in a singles match (at least as of right now) at the upcoming Extreme Rules pay-per-view (PPV) scheduled for Sun., July 14, 2019, at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Wild card!

Here’s the updated Extreme Rules match card:

  • Undertaker & Roman Reigns vs. Shane McMahon & Drew McIntyre
  • Seth Rollins & Becky Lynch vs. Baron Corbin & Lacey Evans (Universal, Raw women’s championship)
  • Kofi Kingston vs. Samoa Joe (WWE championship)
