While Kofi Kingston is booked to have the bigger match on tonight’s Stomping Grounds pay-per-view (PPV) in the Tacoma Dome in Tacoma, Washington, but his boys Xavier Woods and Big E had a challenge of their own.
Their match tonight was against their recent antagonists Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. And it did not start well for the New Day. It didn’t end well either.
Right as the match began, KO delivered a kick to Big E on the apron, and the former Yep Movement isolated Woods. Then they went to work on the X Man, doling out punishment to him most of the match.
Of course Big E eventually got that hot tag and came out swinging. It ended up morphing into the fun tag action you’d expect from these men.
In the end, E speared Sami Zayn onto the floor, which took him out of the game as well. In the ring, Owens delivered the Stunner to Woods for the win.
Not the momentum the New Day were looking for at Stomping Grounds, but Owens and Zayn winning against such a decorated team means they could be used in the tag title scene on Raw or SmackDown in the future.
