Let’s guess who the referee for Corbin/Rollins at Stomping Grounds will be

WWE.com

Monday’s Raw will be the last before Stomping Grounds, so WWE’s announcement that Baron Corbin will reveal the special guest referee for his match against Universal champion Seth Rollins at the pay-per-view (PPV) on the ‘go home’ show makes sense.

Of course, WWE promising things doesn’t mean they’ll happen. A week’s worth of promotion for Brock Lesnar cashing in a briefcase he still has recently reminded us of that.

But assuming we will get an answer when Raw is in Los Angeles on Mon., Jun. 17, who do we think it will be?

WWE floats the three most obvious possibilities.

  1. Sami Zayn, who served as ref for Rollins match against Kevin Owens on last week’s Raw.
  2. Owens, who - like Zayn - allied himself with Corbin.
  3. Lesnar.

The addition of Sami and KO to Baron’s team made for an entertaining show-long plot on the June 10 episode of the red brand, and keeping them involved with this story seems like a smart play. In addition to their gifts for making the most out of whatever material creative gives them, the Yeppers make sense as possible future challengers for Seth.

WWE.com’s case for Brock as ref is that the possibility of a cash-in will distract Rollins. But it would also put him in a position to take the Universal title off Corbin should he win, too. And then there’s the question of whether Vince McMahon will want to pay to have the Beast show up at a third straight non-major PPV.

Then there’s a broad category of “other”. Seeing as this is the Wild Card Era, and we don’t even know which “WWE executives” approved Corbin picking his own referee, that could mean anybody. And by anybody, we mean Shane McMahon.

But in all seriousness, let us know who you think is going to get the nod from the Lone Wolf - and why - below.

We’ll see who’s right on Monday night.
