Lynch on why she wants to fight Banks: ‘She was The Boss, but Sasha’s fallen from grace’

WWE Network

Shortly after Sasha Banks was last seen on television, one of her fellow NXT Horsewomen offered an in-character appeal for her colleague to return the WWE ring.

Now, almost a month later and with no sign of a Banks comeback seemingly on the horizon, Raw & SmackDown Women’s champ Becky Lynch is doubling down by explaining her call for Sasha to “fight her”. The Man told SI.com’s Justin Barrasso:

“Come fight me, Sasha. At one time, Sasha Banks was the top dog, she was ‘The Boss,’ but Sasha’s fallen from grace. It seems like she can’t hack it.

Let’s prove something. I know we’ve had tremendous matches back in NXT, and it’s been an age since we stepped in the ring together, and I would love to again, but this is a whole different kettle of fish. This ain’t ‘The Lasskicker’ anymore, this is ‘The Man.’ I would love to go toe-to-toe, ‘The Man’ vs. ‘The Boss,’ to prove who is the top dog now.”

Them’s fighting words!

That’s clearly the idea, but is this Lynch trying to sell Banks on an angle, or her bosses? Are these words all coming from The Man character, or is there any real resentment from Becky that one of the biggest potential draws she could work with walked away just when she finished climbing the mountain? Could this be part of a WWE narrative they’re trying to get out about Sasha that Bex, as a face of the company, has been tasked with delivering?

Let us know what you think, Cagesiders. And head over to SI.com for more from Becky Two Belts, including lots of trash talk for her old foe Ronda Rousey, and her new one Lacey Evans.
