Brock Lesnar’s announcement regarding how he plans to use his Money in the Bank contract is the big hook for Raw tonight (May 27). Will the Beast cash-in for a shot at Universal champion Seth Rollins, or instead focus on Kofi Kingston and the WWE title?
In reality, WWE seems to have telegraphed his decision. The seemingly foregone conclusion that Brock will pick Rollins - and likely for a match at June 7’s Super ShowDown in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia - is another example of why they should let Lesnar’s Advocate, Paul Heyman, have a little more say in the writer’s room. Because we like the idea Heyman pitched in his interview with Scott Fishman for TV Insider a lot more than what’s the rumor mill indicates we’re gonna get:
“My personal preference is for Brock Lesnar to face Seth Rollins and Kofi Kingston in a handicap match. Beat them both, unify the titles and hold them both over his head and hop on a private jet to go to the greatest steakhouse in the world (which I will not reveal because I don’t want people bothering us when we go out to dinner).
Unfortunately, WWE would like to protect its investment in either Seth Rollins or Kofi Kingston, knowing that Brock is going to F5 and take them to ‘Suplex City’ and conquer at least one of them. Unfortunately, they won’t let us cash in on both at the same time. Knowing the ability of Brock Lesnar, that would be my preference.”
Leave it Paul E. to float a cool booking idea, then use it to provide a storyline reason it won’t happen AND put his client over huge in the process.
Ah well. The handicap title unification bout wouldn’t be perfect, but it would be interesting.
