Even with his signature cheap pop mention of Albany, the crowd in New York’s capital wasn’t excited when Mick Foley revealed the new 24/7 title on the May 20 Raw.
In a Fallout video, Mick said he thought it was because fans wanted it to be the old Hardcore championship. Maybe it was also because the thing is ugly as sin, or folks didn’t yet realize it would lead to a Twitter documentary series from Drake Maverick about his pursuit of the belt, and R-Truth cosplaying as Carmella.
On his own Twitter, however, Foley’s taking a page from Truth’s playbook. As far as Mick’s concerned, this one’s on him:
Pope - I think the crowd was hoping for the return of the classic Hardcore Title. Thanks for the compliment, but I felt like I came up pretty short on that promo. No one’s fault but my own. https://t.co/mdET56CypC

Yes, I think the audience will begin enjoying the 24/7 aspect pretty quickly. I just wish I had kicked it off with a better promo. https://t.co/NGMTR2Pnbq

Personally, I didn’t think it was much different than most WWE-written promos. Maybe tasking him with debuting the belt and teasing the new approach to Raw’s third hour was too much for one segment, but that didn’t have much to do with how he was received, I don’t think.
What’s your take? Was Albany booing the 24/7 championship? Foley’s promo? Just expressing their general feeling about the show? None or all of the above?
