Report: Reasons WWE won’t release Luke Harper don’t make much sense

WWE.com

The latest report on Luke Harper’s status quickly spirals into a peek inside the mind of Vince McMahon.

A new update on Harper asking for his release from WWE somehow involves Sami Zayn, Braun Strowman, EC3, Drake Maverick, and a fake Southern accent.

Suddenly can’t get the image of Harper talking like Foghorn Leghorn out of our head.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscription required and encouraged) Dave Meltzer reports on why Harper has not been released by WWE.

“The update on Harper is that Vince McMahon, in writing, told him he wouldn’t release him. He was earmarked to work a program with Zayn after Mania, but the decision was made not to do it. One person close to the situation told us that he needs to get out because they made a call that they weren’t going to use him after Vince saw him in his return. Vince said that he didn’t “get him” and complained that he couldn’t even do a Southern accent (that was from them wanting him to do a Southern accent four years ago).”

The report would also go on to state that Harper was a last minute addition to the Andre Memorial Battle Royal and Strowman blew some spots during the match, which may be why The Monster Among Men hasn’t been used much per Meltzer. Harper was then reportedly sent home after his program with Zayn fell through but was called back a day later to work a match with EC3.

During the match, Maverick served as EC3’s manager and WWE booked the contest to have a lot of interference. According to Meltzer, McMahon didn’t like the manager spots and didn’t like Harper in the match, which is the reason why he was not placed on any brands during the Superstar Shake-Up.

Still keeping track of McMahon’s train of thought here?

To sum the report up: McMahon may not like Harper because he doesn’t ‘get him’, he can’t do a Southern accent, a battle royal spot with Strowman, and a dark match with EC3.

Makes sense?
