WWE Money in the Bank 2019 results: Seth Rollins pins AJ Styles, retains Universal championship

@WWE

For the first time ever — if you didn’t know that before, the promotion made sure to change that in the days leading up to this — in a WWE ring, Seth Rollins wrestled AJ Styles at tonight’s (Sun., May 19, 2019) Money in the Bank pay-per-view (PPV) at the XL Center in Hartford, Connecticut. Only this time it was for the Universal championship Rollins won from Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 35.

The build wasn’t great but the match was expected to be.

It lived up to the hype.

Two of the smoothest wrestlers in the game today went out and went move-for-move in a well executed match that had fans chanting “this is awesome” as it got deeper into it. The selling, in particular, stood out to me. They really made this feel like an epic encounter, especially when Styles countered the Stomp into the Styles Clash and Rollins kicked out.

Ultimately, Rollins hit the ripcord knee as a counter to the Phenomenal Forearm and followed up with a Stomp that, considering all the punishment Styles had taken, was enough to get a three count.

Hot damn, though, let’s do that again.

After, Styles rushed the ring while Rollins was celebrating. Seth simply held the title above his head. AJ held his hand out. They shook like gentlemen.
