Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair have fought each other way too many times on pay-per-view

There’s no doubt that Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch are two of the most talented performers in WWE. They both just competed in the main event of WrestleMania 35. Their Last Woman Standing match last year at Evolution may very well be the best WWE match of 2018. Becky and Charlotte are two of the biggest stars in the company.

So why does their upcoming match on May 19 at Money in the Bank 2019 for the SmackDown women’s championship feel like it’s missing something?

I think this match is lacking in excitement because we’ve simply seen it way too many times going back to last summer. Lynch and Flair have had physical contact with each other on 9 of the last 10 WWE pay-per-view (PPV) events, not counting Crown Jewel from Saudi Arabia, where women are not allowed to perform.

Here is the full listing of these 10 events, and a brief description of how Becky and Charlotte interacted with each other on almost every card.

• Hell in a Cell 2018 - Lynch defeated Flair by pinfall
• Super Show-Down - Flair defeated Lynch by disqualification
• Evolution - Lynch defeated Flair in a Last Woman Standing match
• Survivor Series 2018 - They did not meet on this card; Lynch was injured
• TLC 2018 - Asuka defeated Becky and Charlotte in a triple threat TLC match
• Royal Rumble 2019 - Lynch eliminated Flair to win the women’s Royal Rumble match
• Elimination Chamber 2019 - Lynch attacked Rousey and Flair with a crutch after Rousey defeated Riott
• Fastlane 2019 - Lynch defeated Flair by disqualification
• WrestleMania 35 - Lynch defeated Rousey and Flair in a triple threat match

The above list includes nine instances out of the last ten PPV events where Becky and Charlotte came to blows, with Survivor Series 2018 being the lone exception. These nine instances include eight matches and one post-match attack.

Their upcoming match at Money in the Bank 2019 will make it 10 out of the last 11 PPVs where these two stars have dealt with each other. The feud has reached pure exhaustion at this point. It was already exhausted by WrestleMania 35, which is just one more argument in favor of the idea that Lynch and Rousey should have had a one-on-one match on that night.

Here we are one month later, and Lynch and Flair are still going at it. Isn’t the whole point of the Superstar Shakeup to provide fresh matches and stories? This feud needs to end already, and stars like Ember Moon and Bayley need to be elevated.

Let’s hope WWE finally closes this book at Money in the Bank.
