When Shane McMahon tried to hand the SmackDown Tag Team championship to Daniel Bryan & Rowan, The Usos Wild Card-ed their way into a title match.
Yes, WWE is using “Wild Card” as a verb, such as in this recap of Mojo Rawley’s win over Apollo Crews on the May 13 Raw: “Rawley’s aggression was on full display after Apollo Crews Wild-Carded onto Team Red to challenge Rawley and the SmackDown LIVE Superstar suffered the misfortune of a tweaked knee.“
But I digress...
Now, after the Planet’s Tag Team champs and Jimmy & Jey had another Shane-directed interaction in a handicap match on last night’s SmackDown LIVE, they’ve been booked into a two-on-two bout on the Kickoff of Sun., May 19’s Money in the Bank pay-per-view (PPV).
Are the belts on the line? Do The Usos have to use the Wild Card Rule in order to face a blue brand team on PPV? Can four Raw Superstars face four SmackDown ones on Sunday shows, or is that just Mondays and Tuesdays? Maybe each PPV should get eight Wild Card spots?
Most of those questions are jokes. I think. I’m guessing the SmackDown Tag straps aren’t at stake in Hartford, Connecticut this weekend, or WWE would be clearer on that - and probably put the match on the main card. But I’m not sure.
WILD CARD!
