NXT results, live blog (May 15, 2019): Viking Raiders address their future

WWE.com

Here's a place to check results and comment along with the latest airing of WWE NXT in its regular Wednesday night at 8PM Eastern time slot on WWE Network.

Check out our Wednesday morning preview post to get caught up on what's been happening, and what we expect this week.

We'll post match results here, and we will also have our regular reactions post later. In the meantime, and most importantly, this gives you Cagesiders a dedicated place to rave and/or bitch about whatever happens on WWE’s third brand - during its initial broadcast!

NOTE: Spoilers are out there for these pre-taped broadcasts (including here), but many Cagesiders don’t partake. If you are going to post or discuss spoilers for this show before they happen, or results of future shows, please use the spoiler bar in your comment.

Enjoy the show!

- Straight to the headbanging opening theme/video, then Mauro Ranallo welcomes us to Full Sail. Ranallo and Nigel McGuinness reveal that Percy Watson has decided to move on from WWE, and introduces us the new third person in the booth - Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix!

- NXT Tag Team champs The Viking Raiders are here! Ranallo sells us on the name change as Erik & Ivar being “all in on the viking experience”. They talk raiding Raw, and brutalizing the tag team division there, but since they still have the tag belts, the call General Manager William Regal out.

The Villain answers their call, and makes his way to the ring. They tell the GM that since they know no one can take the titles from them, they’re out here to relinquish them. Erik & Ivar hand him the belts, but before Mr. Regal can say anything, the Street Profits music hits! The crowd is excited. Montez Ford thinks he’s having trouble hearing, because he thinks they said “no one”. But a few weeks ago, they the Profits brought the fight to the Viking Raiders, and showed the NXT Universe and the champs that he and Angelo Dawkins can beat the champs. Dawkins gets in a joke about the name changes, and Erik & Ivar grab their belts back from the GM and tell him to make the match! Regal does just that for later tonight! The Profits celebrate the news with Full Sail.

- Nigel narrates the highlights of the end of last week’s main event when Roderick Strong’s interference did not lead to Adam Cole beating Matt Riddle. We then see the online exclusive video of Cole chewing out Strong and calling him a “little b****” before Roddy throws his Undisputed ERA armband at Adam, Kyle O’Reilly & Bobby Fish. Cathy Kelley catches up with the original three members of the ERA, and Cole says he doesn’t know where the man who cost him his match last week, but there’s no question who the leader of Undisputed is. While they’re talking, officials run behind them. Strong appears (wearing his wife’s MMA merch) and says he thought about what Cole was saying last week, and they are stronger together. He hands him a busted flip flop and says their Matt Riddle problem is solved. Cole gives him an armband, and the ERA walks off together.

- Keith Lee def. Cezar Bononi via pinfall following the Spirit Bomb

Full Sail is HOT for the Limitless One, which aggravates the Brazilian. They show off their agility in the early going, but after chops from Lee, Bononi kicks his knee and drops him neck first into the middle rope. He takes control, but when he talks a little trash after a shoulder block sends Lee to his knees, Keith grabs his arm and hulks up. Clothesline, pounce and that’s all she wrote.

- We see the footage of Io Shirai trying to kill Shayna Baszler at the Performance Center again, and then we see Kelley outside Mr. Regal’s door. She tells us he’s booked Shirai vs. Baszler for the NXT Women’s title for TakeOver: XXV. The Forgotten Sons walk up, angry they were forgotten again when the tag title match was made. They barge into the GM’s office to give him a reason to remember them.

- Kushida def. Kona Reeves via submission with the Hoverboard Lock

After an early back-and-forth, Kushida takes control with a pair of arm drags, but here comes Drew Gulak out to the stage! Kushida is thrown by this and it lets Reeves connect with a knee and slam him into the turnbuckles. A boot and a suplex gets a nearfall, then it’s rest hold time. A kick and an enziguri from the apron gets Kushida back in. A flurry that ends with cartwheel into a drop kick gets two. They grapple, and Kona ends up on the floor after another kick. He follows with a swanton, and after a kick to the arm back in the ring, is able to slap on his version of the kimura for the win.

Kushida points at Gulak, who just shakes his head and walks off.

- Busy night for Mr. Regal, as Bianca Belair is dragging Cathy to his office so she can demand a title shot. They run into Mia Yim, who is hot because Belair cut corners to beat her. She doesn’t want a match with Baszler now, because she wants to get even with The EST. Bianca isn’t phased, and heads into the GM’s office, but forgets to bring Kelley.

- We see trainers taping Matt Riddle’s ribs. Johnny Gargano is interviewed, and he says he’s not worried about The Bro, cause he can take care of himself. He also doesn’t care that the ERA is back on the same page, because he knows they’re gunning for him, and he’ll be ready.

- Vanessa Borne def. Jessie via pinfall

Aliyah is out with Borne. Jessie is Jessie Eleban from the MYC, but without the nerd gimmick. They evade each other with acrobatics, but a shoulder tackle and drop toe hold lets Vanessa put the boots to the taller woman. Borne works her over with strikes, then drop kicks Jessie into the ropes and chokes her with a leg there. When the referee breaks that up, Aliyah slaps Jessie. Borne leaps on her back and rubs her butt on her face. Back in, Jessie with a roll-up. She takes control for a second, but misses a splash in the corner. After a head butt, she connects with the neckbreaker/driver to get a three count.

- We learn Underoath’s “On My Teeth” is a TakeOver theme, and we’re reminded about the Women’s title match, and learn about that Gargano vs. Cole will rematch for the NXT championship, at XXV.

- Street Profits vs. Viking Raiders (c) for the NXT Tag Team championship ends in a no contest (I think?) when The Forgotten Sons attack

The usual spotlight introductions, the first I’ve noticed with Alicia Warrington as the ring announcer.

Raiders quickly hit Ford with tandem maneuvers, looking to end things early, but Dawkins with a spear to save things for his team. That lets Tez get a couple quick roll-ups, and after Dawkins and the former-Hanson show off their cartwheeling skills, Angelo takes him down and Ford hits a Frog Splash for another nearfall.

Before we get much further, the Forgotten Sons are here to jump one of the Vikings. The Profits get into the fight, and Danny Burch & Oney Lorcan race in to join the fray. Ivar cannonballs into the Sons on the floor, and that allows the Profits to take out Erik with their elevated blockbuster, but the DQ was already called for by the referee. Ford & Dawkins run off.

The Raiders are pissed, and take it out on Burch and Lorcan before ending Steve Cutler with a tandem maneuver. They lay their belts on the mat and bow to the crowd as Mauro wonders aloud what this means...
