Whoever Goldberg’s facing in Saudi Arabia is getting some serious Muay Thai

Goldberg’s Instagram

WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg is the latest big name from the past to be lured back into action by sweet, sweet Saudi cash for a June 7 show in Jeddah which may or may not be called “Sands of Time”.

None of the card for the company’s return to King Abdullah Sports City Stadium has been announced. There’s speculation Bobby Lashley could be next for Goldberg, but that’s mostly based off a brief Twitter exchange... and the theory WWE will go with the “feed the mid-carder to the legend” approach that earned Rusev a match with Undertaker at Greatest Royal Rumble.

The other fantasy bookings I’ve seen are more along the lines of last fall’s D-X vs. Brothers of Destruction tag match at Crown Jewel. In this scenario, the veterans back for a one-off appearance are booked against one another. This would either get us a return to the Survivor Series ‘16 - WrestleMania 33 Goldberg/Brock Lesnar feud, or a dream match with Undertaker that finally builds on the 2017 Royal Rumble when the Dead Man eliminated the former NFL defensive lineman.

However it hakes out, Bill wants us to know he’ll be ready. He recently got that message out by sharing a post-workout photo with Muay Thai master Ruben Rowell Jr:

The training required to get ring (and camera) ready at age 52 is a big reason why it takes a big check like the ones the Saudi deal allows WWE to cut in order for Goldberg to lace up the boots. But he’s doing it, so you can keep your focus on who’s next.
