Paige pitched WWE on managing Ronda Rousey

Paige WWE

At just 26-years-old and unable to wrestle due to neck issues, Paige had to find another path in WWE. She was cruising right along as General Manager of SmackDown Live before the McMahon family came in and removed her so they could run the show, with the thought that, at least according to their pitch, it would improve both shows.

It did not.

It also left Paige with nothing to do. But that didn’t mean she wasn’t pitching the company on new ideas, as she told ComicBook.com:

“I pitched to manage Ronda Rousey, kind of like the Paul Heyman-Brock Lesnar thing. And then also be with Asuka, because Asuka had trouble speaking on the mic sometimes. As much as she’s an amazing athlete, an incredible wrestler, and I was like, ‘I’ll help her, give me the microphone, I’ll talk for her.’ And then Paul Heyman called me one day and said, ‘We have a great role for you. You can be the next me with these two women.’ I was like, ‘Wow, what a crazy tag team, they’re incredible.... Absolutely, I’ll take it!’”

I don’t know that anyone can be the next Paul Heyman, and pairing Paige with Asuka and Kairi Sane still feels a bit strange seeing as it got very little storyline explanation, but she’s a great talker and they are great wrestlers. Where can it go wrong?

That Rousey pairing would have been something, though, huh?
