SI reports WWE ‘tentatively’ planning Ronda Rousey vs. Becky Lynch for WrestleMania 36

WWE.com

Much of the talk surrounding the main event finish at WrestleMania 35 last night (Sun., April 7, 2019) at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, centers around whether or not it was botched. There have been conflicting reports from various outlets on the matter, some stating it was a botch while others said it wasn’t.

The one thing that is clear is the result: Becky Lynch pinned Ronda Rousey to win the Raw and SmackDown women’s titles, and that’s what WWE wanted (even if it allegedly took a lot of arguing over a previously planned submission finish to get there).

Now, SI is jumping into the mix with a report of its own that agrees with the “it wasn’t a botch” reports while noting it was done to keep Rousey strong so she could return to WWE later on for another match. Except they go so far as to say that the company is already making “tentative” plans for a Becky Lynch vs. Ronda Rousey rematch at WrestleMania 36 in Tampa on April 5, 2020.

They also report Rousey will have confirmation on her hand injury today, and it’s likely she’s leaving to try to have a child with Travis Browne in the meantime. I’m not entirely sure how that squares with the idea of her wrestling at this time next year, but I suppose that’s why the plans are “tentative.”

Stay tuned for more, because there surely will be updates to come on all of this.
