WrestleMania 35 results: Samoa Joe puts Rey Mysterio to sleep in short order

There was some question if Rey Mysterio would be ready for WrestleMania 35 tonight (Sun., April 7, 2019) at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, considering he injured his ankle on Monday Night Raw just days ago. He was ultimately cleared and his United States championship match against Samoa Joe went ahead as planned.

Not that it was much of a match.

Mysterio came out firing right away, hitting the 619 within the first minute. But when he went to come off the top rope, Joe caught him, set him down, and locked in the Coquina Clutch to put Rey to sleep.

Joe remains U.S. champion and WrestleMania 35 saved itself some time.
