Report: UFC wants Brock Lesnar back in August for heavyweight title fight

Well that’s interesting timing or a negotiating ploy, depending on your point of view.

Just days before WWE Universal champion Brock Lesnar is set to defend his title versus number one contender Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 35, a new report has surfaced regarding The Beast Incarnate’s plans for MMA.

Here is ESPN’s Ariel Helwani with the latest on Lesnar’s contract talks with the UFC.

“The UFC wants him back. As of right now, he wants to be back. They’re giving him a heavyweight title fight if he comes back. Daniel Cormier, the heavyweight champion, wants to fight him. Right now the plan is for him (Lesnar) to fight in August, later on this summer, for that heavyweight championship. So it’s not signed just yet, but that currently is the plan.”

Now 41-years of age, Lesnar last fought for the UFC in July 2016. On that night, Lesnar defeated veteran Mark Hunt by decision. Lesnar’s win was eventually overturned to a No Contest, after the WWE star tested positive for a banned substance during a post-fight drug test.

The UFC heavyweight champion since July 2018, Daniel Cormier and Lesnar got into a physical altercation following DC’s title win. The 40-year-old Cormier has defended his title once since winning it.

Will Brock Lesnar’s possible contract talks with the UFC influence how WWE treats the Universal champion heading into WrestleMania 35 this Sunday?
