Here's a place to check results and comment along with the latest airing of WWE NXT in its regular Wednesday night at 8PM Eastern time slot on WWE Network.
Check out our Wednesday morning preview post to get caught up on what's been happening, and what we expect this week.
We'll post match results here, and we will also have our regular reactions post later. In the meantime, and most importantly, this gives you Cagesiders a dedicated place to rave and/or bitch about whatever happens on WWE’s third brand - during its initial broadcast!
NOTE: Spoilers are out there for these pre-taped broadcasts (including here), but many Cagesiders don't partake. If you are going to post or discuss spoilers for this show before they happen, or results of future shows, please use the spoiler bar in your comment.
Enjoy the show!
- Mauro Ranallo, Percy Watson & Nigel McGuinness remind us about tonight’s main event, and Friday’s NXT Tag Team championship match
- War Raiders def. Some Guys via pinfall
Rowe forearms jobber 1 in the face, the tosses jobber 2 into the ring. Hanson is in for some more tandem offense, and that’s it.
- Rowe on the mic, says General Manager William Regal gave them an opportunity to make a statement to Dusty Classic winners Ricochet & Aleister Black ahead of TakeOver: New York. Hanson says they don’t have to listen, they can just watch. They call for another team!
- War Raiders def. Adrian Jaoude & Cezar Bononi via pinfall
The jobbers are thrown to the floor, then a Hanson lariat to Bononi kicks off another squash. The highlight was Rowe powerbombing both Brazilians at once.
- Nigel kicks us to a video package on New York’s UK title match between Pete Dunne & WALTER
- “Earlier today”, and interviewer caught up to Candice LeRae to ask her about her husband’s big match on Friday. She’s says she’s excited for him, but she has her own dream to be a WWE champ, so she’s gonna be watching the Fatal 4Way. Aliyah and Vanessa Borne roll up to tell Candice that she’s a loser like her husband. LeRae says she’ll start earning her Women’s title shot by knocking Aliyah on her bougie ass. Aliyah storms off to throw a hissy fit, and Borne says she won’t take that from Candice. Probably one of the pre-TakeOver matches we’ll see next week.
- Jaxson Ryker def. Oney Lorcan via pinfall after a sitout powerbomb
Ryker’s accompanied to the ring by his fellow Forgotten Sons, Danny Burch is with Lorcan. Jaxson charges, but Oney is able to get a lock-up. After that, the former Marine overpowers him, ending with a slam off the ropes that drops Lorcan to the floor. Wesley Blake and Steve Cutler move on him, but the Guvner backs them off and chellenges them, the Sons back down. Ryker drags Lorcan back in for more punishment, and gets two on a gutbuster. The punishment continues, but Oney doesn’t stay down. He eventually grabs a handful of beard for some chops, and knocks Jaxson down with a European. But eventually he charges into a two-handed swing, and it’s only a matter of time after that.
The Sons look to pounce, but Burch is able to rescue his partner.
- Video package on Tommaso Ciampa’s injury and the NXT title match we’re getting in its wake, Johnny Gargano vs. Adam Cole in a 2-out-of-3 falls match.
- After a commercial, we get a hype vid on Velveteen Dream vs. Matt Riddle for the North American championship (set to Billie Eilish’s “You Should See Me In A Crown”)
- Then we get a flashback to Keith Lee and Dominik Dijakovic’s last match ending a double countout last month, and their pull apart at the Performance Center the following week. Lee spoke to “reporters” earlier. He says he came today to get resolution. Due to circumstances, they got bumped off the card. He understands they’re not chosen ones, but in two weeks, they’ll face each other and Dijakovic and everyone will bask in his glory.
- Next week, we’ll get LeRae vs. Aliyah and Street Profits vs. Marcel Barthel & Fabian Aichner
- Bianca Belair vs. Kairi Sane ends in a no contest due to interference by Women’s champ Shayna Baszler
Two of the four women in Friday’s Women’s title match lock-up amidst dueling chants. Belair blows her a kiss, and Kairi catches it and stomps on it. She blast Bianca into the the corner, flips over her and then mocks the braid. Interceptor spear follows, sliding D sends The EST to the floor, then follows with a dive as it’s all Sane in the early going. She slides Belair back in and covers, then tries for a submission but is booted into the corner. Scoop slam by Bianca who then puts the boots to the Pirate Princess in the corner. She covers, but Kairi kicks out, then it’s time for an abdominal stretch and a claw. Backbreaker gets two. She grabs Sane by her mock pony and slaps her. Kairi tries to fight back but gets put down. The EST covers with one foot while mocking the “ahoy” salute, which allows Sane back in. She tries for the Octopus stretch but can’t get it in. Kairi tries for a crossbody off the top, but Belair catches her for a slam. Splash follow-up, but Sane gets the knees up. Both are weary, and when Bianca goes for a delayed vertical suplex, Kairi reverses. Two rolling neck breakers, sliding d and a nearfall of an elbow from the top onto a standing Belair. The former champ is frustrated, and goes up for her finisher but Binky catches up. Seated superplex! Standing moonsault for two. Sane tries to lock in a triangle, but The EST deadlifts for an implant buster, but before she can slam her down, the Horsewomen run in. Shayna Baszler forearms Belair in the back for the DQ.
- Io Shirai runs in to save Kairi from Shayna and her girls, and it’s chaos. The women’s locker room empties, and Beliar press slams Lacey Lane onto the assembled masses on the floor. Io attacks The EST, then flies onto all the ladies on the floor. She grabs the belt to celebrate in the ring as our last image of the episode before going to a promo for the entire TakeOver: New York show.
