SmackDown LIVE’s numbers fell as expected after the Superstar Shake-up. April 23’s edition, the first blue brand show with an advertised Roman Reigns storyline, had an audience of 2,072,000. That’s down nearly 150K viewers from last week.
That made WWE the eighth most watched cable original, behind two NBA playoff games, History’s Curse of Oak Island, and the usual MSNBC & Fox News political talk shows.
Ratings were also down. SmackDown got a .71 among the overall 18 - 49 year old audience.
Not really sure what to say at this point. These numbers are much lower than at the same time a year ago, and not what WWE likely wants, but not as bad percentage-wise as Raw, and maybe not that bad when you consider factors like cord-cutting and DVR viewing, etc, etc. One thing I’m pretty sure of is that basketball isn’t a great excuse, because the only good game of the night didn’t start until after the graps was over.
In other news, USA Network’s Miz & Mrs was also down. 940,000 people tuned in, and helped it land at a .39 in the ratings.
