Having WWE champion Kofi Kingston wrestle Shinsuke Nakamura on the April 23 episode of SmackDown makes sense. Kingston’s the hottest act in the business, so you want to advertise his role on the show as soon as possible. Nakamura is a good hand, popular enough in his own right, and a rivalry between the two men was set up on the Superstar Shake-up episode when Kofi, his New Day partners Xavier Woods & Kevin “Big O” Owens beat Nak, Rusev & Cesaro in six-man action.
That’s what WWE’s announced. Will it actually happen?
Changes to advertised matches aren’t exactly rare for WWE television these days. On SmackDown in particular, they’ve drawn criticism from talent - and may even have played a role in one of the lead writers stepping away from the job.
So don’t get too excited about Kingston vs. Nakamura just yet, is our advice.
