WWE faced competition from live sports and new reality shows on April 16, but SmackDown LIVE held their post-WrestleMania audience and actually picked up 20K viewers from the week prior. It seems the lure of a big acquisition was even more enticing than ‘Mania fallout.
Of course, the Superstar Shake-up episode only getting 2,219,000 viewers isn’t ideal. That’s more than 500,000 fewer than the 2018 Shake-up drew, and close to a million less than the year before that.
So what does ninth most watched cable original mean? Does it matter they came in behind two NBA playoff games, History’s Curse of Oak Island, and the usual MSNBC & Fox News political talk shows?
Ratings were down from last week, too, so factor that in. The .74 share SmackDown drew of the overall 18 - 49 year old was third behind basketball. Last’s year blue brand Shake-up episode got a .98.
But hey! USA Network’s Miz & Mrs had the biggest audience it’s had since its return earlier this month at 1,102,000 watching. It’s rating was down back to .41.
