As revealed in an article on WWE’s Orlando Performance Center from the latest edition of Sports Business Journal (h/t Pro Wrestling Sheet), NXT’s Punishment Martinez is the latest member of the roster to undergo a name change. Punishment, whose real name is Luis Martinez, will now be known as Damien Priest.

Martinez was signed from Ring of Honor last year. He’s appeared once on screen, losing a match on NXT against his friend Matt Riddle.
So there’s not a ton of history within the company for his old gimmick name. Plus, let’s face it, “Punishment Martinez” was a pretty generic handle to begin with. Damien Priest may not be a surefire hit, but it’s not any worse.
