Hartford, Connecticut’s XL Center earlier today announced they’ll be hosting this year’s Money in the Bank pay-per-view (PPV) on May 19.
It’s interesting for several reasons...
SHOW ANNOUNCEMENT** @WWE returns to Hartford with it's action-packed Pay-Per-View event, #MoneyintheBank on Sunday, May 19! Tickets start at just $20 and go on sale to the public- Friday, March 8 at 10am at https://t.co/QzrkHso2tC. pic.twitter.com/cRHLBUF7cW

- WWE keeps moving Money in the Bank up on their calendar. It debuted in 2010 as a July show and remained there for a few years until it was bumped up to June in 2014. Now it’s happening in May.
- Last year, there was a NXT TakeOver event attached to Money in the Bank, giving WWE a “Big 5” of PPV weekends where they had shows on Saturday and Sunday in 2018. It doesn’t look like that will be the case this year. WrestleVotes reports NXT will have a standalone show in San Jose on June 8.
- The company’s usual post-WrestleMania tour of Europe is set for May 8 - 17, which means the ‘go home’ episodes of Raw and SmackDown will emanate from London on tape delay, and the rosters will be flying back to the States after a Friday show in either Berlin or Cardiff, Wales to work Money in the Bank on Sunday.
- Word is the next Saudi Arabia show will happen in May, which would mean two events that month.
We’ll see how all that shakes out. If you’re gonna be in the Hartford area on May 19, get your tickets to see some jet-lagged wrestlers this Friday (Mar. 8).
