No build, no problem.
Seemingly pulled out of thin air, Asuka put her SmackDown women’s title on the line versus Charlotte Flair on Tuesday night. Flair used the match as way to prove she belongs in the main event of WrestleMania 35.
Two weeks away from WWE’s biggest show, and still without an opponent or a proper feud, it was never made clear why Asuka accepted the title defense.
Once the bell sounded, there was never any doubt that Flair and Asuka could and would put together another instant classic.

Then a funny thing happened on Asuka’s road to WrestleMania, she tapped out clean in the middle of the ring.
Just like that, SmackDown has a new women’s champion and the main event WrestleMania 35 may now be a unification match.
