Sasha & Bayley are headed to SmackDown, and maybe a WrestleMania Fatal 4Way

WWE.com

This has been building for a while, and it was all but official after SmackDown last Tuesday (Mar. 12). WWE confirmed in their official preview for tonight that Women’s Tag Team champs Bayley & Sasha Banks will be on this week’s edition of the blue brand.

Looks like The IIconics will be made to answer for all the long-distant shots they’ve been taking at the Boss ‘N’ Hug Connection:

“For weeks, The IIconics have been calling out WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Sasha Banks & Bayley for showing up everywhere but SmackDown LIVE since becoming the inaugural champions at WWE Elimination Chamber. The Australian Superstars accused the titleholders of ducking them.

The Boss ‘N’ Hug Connection have heard enough from Billie Kay & Peyton Royce, as they revealed on Raw that they’ll be in the house on SmackDown LIVE tonight. Will The IIconics stick to their words, or will Sasha Banks & Bayley make them regret every one of them?”

It’s interesting timing. Last night’s Raw made it clear Beth Phoenix is coming out of retirement to re-form the Divas of Doom with Natalya, and coming after the new belts. It also kept Tamina Snuka & Nia Jax in the mix.

Are Peyton Royce & Billie Kay going to join a 4Way dance for the Women’s Tag titles at WrestleMania 35? Or will they be dealt with before April 7?

With a growing women’s roster, even counting a Women’s Battle Royal, a multi-team line-up for the tag straps will get more wrestlers on the card. With rumors indicating we could see as many as 17 matches from MetLife Stadium, putting eight women in one match frees up spots in the Battle Royal for both current main roster Superstars and NXT performers WWE wants to show off on the Grandest Stage Of Them All.

But it’s also a bummer for fans who just like straight-up one-on-one, or two-on-two, bouts.

We’ll see which direction WWE is going with the Women’s Tag Team championship on SmackDown tonight.
