Longtime WWE employee Sue Aitchison named 2019 Warrior Award recipient

In a sign we may now know this year’s entire WWE Hall of Fame class, the company announced the recipient of the 2019 Warrior Award today (Mon., Mar. 18) via the Stamford Advocate.

And in Sue Aitchison, the company has found a way to blend the honor as it was originally pitched by Warrior during the speech he gave to mark his 2014 induction (a “Jimmy Miranda Award” for “all the people behind the scenes here that work for WWE, some of them for years, 25, 30 years”) and the way WWE has dedicated it since (“presented to an individual who has exhibited unwavering strength and perseverance and who lives life with the courage and compassion that embodies the indomitable spirit of The Ultimate Warrior”).

According to WWE.com, Aitchison has led the charge for the company’s community outreach programs - including their partnership with Make-A-Wish and their WrestleMania Reading Challenge.

Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon explained why the Stamford native was chosen for the honor: “Sue has dedicated her entire career to helping Wish kids fulfill their dreams and putting smiles on countless families’ faces. Her heart and character epitomize the essence of the Warrior Award. She is an unsung hero who deserves to be recognized and immortalized in the WWE Hall of Fame.

Don’t expect Aitchison’s efforts to stop, either. She remarked, “I am humbled to receive this prestigious award. I look forward to continuing WWE’s efforts with Make-A-Wish and other organizations to make a positive impact on children and their families around the world.”

She joins D-Generation X, Honky Tonk Man, Torrie Wilson and Harlem Heat in this year’s class.
