WWE FASTLANE LIVE BLOG & MATCH COVERAGE
Miss the beat, you lose the rhythm, and nothing falls into place, no. Only missed by a fraction, slipped a little off your pace. The more things you get, the more you want, just trade in one for the other. Workin so hard, to make it easier, got to turn, c’mon turn this thing around while I liveblog this here pro wrestling show for you, folks.
The pre-show starts with Jonathan Coachman welcoming us to the show and introducing his fellow panelists, tonight comprising Beth Phoenix, Sam Roberts, and David Otunga. They run down tonight’s card for us before moving on to the Becky Lynch vs. Charlotte Flair match, in video package and panel discussion. Women’s tag titles up next and the Iconic Duo interrupt the discussion to run down Sasha Banks and Bayley for not coming to SmackDown since winning the titles.
Asuka vs. Mandy Rose is next on the agenda and Mandy is interviewed alongside Sonya Deville backstage. She claims that she’s in Asuka’s head and it’s the champion with the longshot chance to win. Deville says this is the biggest night of Rose’s career, and she has the mental edge. EC3 rolls up to say Mandy’s name and says he does a lot of things and introduces himself as a bit of a hot commodity.
Sonya scoffs at him running that as his opener and calls him lame before telling him Mandy isn’t here to flirt with a human tanning bed and she’s got her eyes on a prize that ain’t him so he can take a hike. We cut to a video from earlier today of Carmella passing a petition around to get R-Truth a United States Championship match, whereupon Zelina Vega berates her for trying and saying that her man Andrade “Cien” Almas is next in line.
Mella points out Andrade got pinned, they bicker at each other and eventually Samoa Joe comes over and tells them to calm down. He wants to make it abundantly clear that he’s champion and he’s going to continue doing so, and if Truth, Rey Mysterio, or Andrade have a problem with that, they can come see him and he’ll be happy to put them and their problems to sleep.
He signs the petition before leaving because he’s just that goddamn cool.
The SmackDown Tag Team Championship is up next for discussion and Christian (at last!) joins the panel for that. Ricochet and Aleister Black get a handcam promo where they talk about creating moments and how every victory they get turns into fear for the established tag teams in the locker room. Video package and discussion of the WWE Championship match follows with AJ Styles in the rotating spot.
We go backstage where Kevin Owens is interviewed and he suggests anybody who wants to talk about him replacing Kofi Kingston should go talk to Vince McMahon because he agrees with them. But he’s not gonna turn down a title shot, a chance to make life better for his family, and he’s been sitting for five months watching Bryan talk down to people and tonight he’s gonna punch Dan in his stupid face for everybody that’s wanted to do that for the last five months.
And then when he does that, he’s taking the WWE Championship--
Enter the New Day. Kofi says he’s got no problem with Owens, and tonight is his moment, so good luck. Kev says that really means a lot and thanks him, and they shake on it. KO wishes them luck with their tag match and leaves New Day to have a crew member roll up to tell them the McMahon family wants to talk to Kofi about the WWE Championship match!
And speaking of that tag match, we head to ringside for our action!
New Day (Big E & Xavier Woods) vs. Rusev & Shinsuke Nakamura

Sidestep a charge, hard into the post, tag made, scoop Rusev up, Woods hurting but it connects...
New Day win by pinfall with Up Up Down Down on Rusev.
Back to the panel, we get some quick last minute predictions and shilling for the Network to close the pre-show out.
The main show kicks off with a video package focused on the Road to WrestleMania and how tonight’s show plays into all that through our major feuds.

The A-Lister helps McMahon out of the ring and checks on him and they leave raising each other’s hands and consoling each other, Miz stopping by his dad at ringside for a hug... AND SHANE BLINDSIDES MIZ WITH A NORTHERN LARIAT! MOUNTED PUNCHES, KICKS, BEATING HIM UNMERCIFUL RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIS FATHER!
Tearing his shirt off, McMahon blinds him with it for more punches before wiping his sweat off his face and throwing it at him. Punches to the side of Miz’s head, not done with him yet, stepover and roll-through and the triangle choke is on at ringside! McMahon yells at Miz’s dad to watch his son pass out!
Once the A-Lister’s out, Shane leaves him and his dad hops the barricade to hold his hand while referees Jason Ayers and Danilo Anfibio check on him and help him to the back.
Baron Corbin’s Dork Legion get a handcam promo talking about how they’re going to break the Shield and they run Raw and that they’re the new dominant force in WWE.

Backstage, Big E and Xavier Woods are walking backstage to collect Kofi Kingston, who tells them he’s been waiting outside the door since they called him and has been knocking on the door and was told to wait repeatedly. E and Woods aren’t having it and they barge in, to which Vince says he’s been waiting for an hour. New Day pitch him on Kofi’s story, telling him all the things he’s been looking for have been there for 11 years in Kofi Kingston.
