The Hideo Itami farewell edition of ‘205 Life’ will hit you right in the feels

New, comments

If you don’t follow the WWE Cruiserweights online, you might not know that Jack Gallagher and Ariya Daivari have been producing a video series called #205Life. You might remember it from that one time John Cena was on it.

More a DIY WWE 24 than Being The Elite, the series follows the men of 205 Live as they travel the country and bust their asses trying to grow their niche audience. They’re short, and worth your time if you’re a fan of the cast, or wrestling road stories.

The eighth episode, shared by Gallagher yesterday (Feb. 4), is must see, though. Subtitled “Go 205 Sleep”, it was filmed between Jan. 22 - Jan. 29, dates we now know were Hideo Itami’s last with WWE.

It’s only three minutes long, but it manages to capture the affection the 205 Live roster has for Itami (and vice versa), as well as the frustration of chasing your dream in a strange land, and not being able to really attain that dream due to things outside of your control - predominantly, in Hideo’s case, injuries.

Hearing him talk about how scary it was to get shoulder surgery from doctors who didn’t speak the same language he did, and how much he misses real Japanese sushi pretty much tells you everything you need to know. The rest is covered by the tears Shinsuke Nakamura wipes from his eyes after a lengthy embrace following Itami’s match last Tuesday.

As Arn Anderson says at the end, thank you for everything, Hideo.

And thanks to Gallagher & Daivari for capturing and sharing these moments.
