WWE ELIMINATION CHAMBER LIVE BLOG & MATCH COVERAGE

You’re pushing it, I can’t resist. I feel you under my skin, pushing familiar drugs again. Feeling the turning tides, indifference takes hold again like mist over the lake. Is it real or is it fake? I’ll go with the gravity, let the current take me where it please, and on the way I’ll liveblog this here pro wrestling show for you, folks.

The pre-show begins with Jonathan Coachman welcoming us to the show and introducing us to tonight’s panel, consisting of Beth Phoenix, Booker T, and Sam Roberts. They hype up tonight’s card, shill for the WWE Network, and toss to a Mustafa Ali promo expressing his feelings about not being cleared for the Elimination Chamber match. The panel then discusses that match and explains the rules for those of you who are new here.

We get a video package where Braun Strowman narrates the story of his feud with Baron Corbin as if he was telling a child a story and concludes by saying Corbin will get These Hands. The SmackDown tag titles are up for discussion next and the Bar join the panel to weigh in, Sheamus comparing the champs to listening to the radio and watching TV at the same time, saying it just doesn’t work, which is somewhat ironic because I’m liveblogging with music on right here no problem.

Heavy Machinery roll up to declare themselves a wild card (which, presumably, means they’ll be cutting someone’s brake lines by the end of the night) and bicker with the Bar a bit. A recap of the segment where Vince McMahon suspended Becky Lynch and replaced her at WrestleMania with Charlotte Flair follows, as well as of Flair reinjuring Becky’s knee at a house show last night.

The panel discusses that for a beat and then tosses backstage to the Riott Squad, who are talking about how they stand together and they’re going to win their matches tonight when Charlotte rolls up. She says she remembers their debut because she was on the wrong end of it, and she wants Ruby to take all her anger and aggression out on Ronda, and since she won her first title in Houston, this is a chance for Riott to be just like the Queen.

Flair says she’ll be at ringside for the match and wishes her luck, leaving with a “Wooo!” Back to the panel, they discuss Riott/Rousey and then the Intercontinental Championship match. A Mojo Rawley promo follows, again with him yelling into a mirror, this time asking why the WWE Universe matters and saying if they don’t like the face they see, he doesn’t either.

Alexa Bliss gets a handcam promo talking about how lucky she feels to have helped get the ball rolling on the tag titles and her pick for the first champions is Tamina and Nia Jax. Panel discussion of the tag title Elimination Chamber match follows, and we go to ringside for our pre-show match.

Akira Tozawa vs. Buddy Murphy (c) (WWE Cruiserweight Championship)

Circling, Murphy with a wristlock, arm wringer, wrenching, looking for the armbar but Tozawa rolls through and reverses. Reversed right back, more wrenching and Akira lands a chop! Kevin Owens gets a handcam promo in his car on his way home from rehab with a pizza for his family to enjoy while they watch tonight’s show together. He admits that it hurts that he won’t be on the show tonight, but his rehab’s going well and he’s still about a month away and the Kevin Owens Show is coming back very soon and he wants Finn and the Riott Squad to win their matches tonight.

He does a bit about his kids liking pineapple on pizza and we move onto a video package for the WWE Championship Elimination Chamber match. Mark Henry is interviewed on the stage, and he asks the crowd to give it up one more time for the Cruiserweight Championship match we just saw and picks the Iconic Duo for the women’s tag team chamber and Kofi Kingston for the men’s match.

But if he was in the Elimination Chamber match, there’d be a lot of other men introduced to the Hall of Pain! The panel then discusses the Elimination Chamber matches themselves to close the pre-show out.

Nobody knows how hard they fought for these, and they don’t just do this for themselves or us fans, but for the whole women’s division, and this is just the beginning of the changes to come, and they’re going to continue to do what they do best, and that’s why they’re the Boss and Hug Connection, your new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions.

Paige does a bumper to introduce yet another trailer for Fighting With My Family.

Backstage, Lio Rush is pumping Bobby Lashley up, telling him Finn Balor is done when an interview rolls up to ask if he’s the weak link of their team. He’s incredulous but she keeps driving the wedge and Rush takes it more seriously, saying they have the advantage and they’re on top of the food chain, and nobody’s more dominant than they are. Bob’s the steak and Lio’s the sizzle, and Finn can’t win.

He’s not worried despite Balor getting the pin on him a few weeks ago and they leave.

Off the ropes, Rush gets involved to stop the tope and Balor heads out after him, chasing him and running right into a slam into the barricade! Back inside, nearfall off a slam, tag to Lio, probing strikes, backing Balor into the corner to put boots to him. Jawing, hyped up, Finn throws him in the corner but Rush slips away and makes the tag before he can get cut off!

Commentary hypes up the 2019 Special Olympics World Games in Abu Dhabi next month and we get a video package to go with that as well before cutting to some of Team USA’s athletes in the front row.

We go backstage with Shane McMahon as a trainer checks on him and Miz paces by his bedside. Lacey Evans makes her entrance for some reason or another... and heads right back up the ramp. Weird.

WWE management has made the WWE Universe the authority, and what happens now? He comes out and he’s first in the Elimination Chamber? FICKLE! First in the gauntlet? FICKLE! Referees Chad Patton and Jason Ayers come down to send Erick Rowan to the back and Bryan is not having it!

Rowan leaves and gets back on the mic and says he doesn’t want us to call him a martyr, but he’s suffering, as the people repeat a stupid phrase and it gives him hope because he knows the planet needs him and there’s still hope that he’ll raise his beautiful championship and still be WWE Champion!
