NXT showed off its awesome women's division with an all-woman house show

New, comments

Whether you’e picked a side or are just enjoying a lot great wrestling every Wednesday night, it’s hard to miss how NXT’s expansion to two hours has resulted in more time for their women’s division. More importantly, what Shayna Baszler, Rhea Ripley, Io Shirai, Candice LeRae, Mia Yim, Dakota Kai, Bianca Belair, Xia Li, Tegan Nox, and the entire roster have done with the opportunity proves the Women’s Evolution is more than a marketing slogan. It’s also far from over.

A Jacksonville, Florida house show in front of 400 people isn’t a replacement for an Evolution PPV. But the all-women card NXT put on at the Maxwell Snyder Armory last night (Dec. 5) was pretty darn exciting nonetheless.

Highlights included the in-ring debut of Shotzi Blackheart, and a six-person tag pitting Rhea Ripley, Candice LeRae & Mia Yim against Dakota Kai, Jessamyn Duke & Marina Shafir that Wrestling Observer’s JJ Williams described as “one of those moments where you could see the next five years of the division in front of you”. The night ended after Shayna Baszler submitting Reina Gonzalez to retain the NXT Women’s title, then being chased off by Ripley when she reapplied the Kirifuda Clutch. The babyface line-up joined The Nightmare in the ring to send the fans home happy.

Here are the full results, and some choice pics and videos posted to social media from the show:
