Could NXT make it three weeks in a row?

Last week, the night before Thanksgiving, NXT on USA bested AEW Dynamite for total viewership for the second consecutive week. The catch being that Dynamite has won the most important advertising demographic for nine straight weeks.

On Wednesday, Dec. 4, AEW for the first time since Nov. 13 won both the viewership total and demographic. Per Showbuzz Daily, Dynamite checked with 851,000 viewers and a .32 rating point in people 18-49 years old.

NXT improved on both fronts from one week ago with 845,000 total viewers and a .29 rating point, but it was not enough to win three weeks in a row.

The top five on cable for Wednesday night featured Ohio State vs. North Carolina College Basketball on ESPN, The Challenge War of the Worlds on MTV, South Park on Comedy Central, The Real Housewives of NJ on Bravo, and the midnight eastern edition of Sportscenter on ESPN.

AEW placed eighth overall while NXT came in 12th on the night.

Here’s a breakdown of AEW viewership and rating in the 18-49 demo through 10 weeks:

  • Oct. 2: 1.4 million / .68
  • Oct. 9: 1.02 million / .46 on TNT, plus 122K from Tru TV simulcast for total viewership of approximately 1.14 million
  • Oct. 16: 1.01 million / .44
  • Oct 24: 963,000 / .45
  • Oct 30: 759,000 / .34
  • Nov. 6: 822,000 / .35
  • Nov. 13: 957,000 / .43
  • Nov. 20: 893,000 / .39
  • Nov. 27: 663,000 / .26
  • Dec. 4: 851,000 / .32

Here’s a breakdown of NXT’s audience and ratings share of the same demographic through 12 weeks:

Total viewership for Wednesday night checked in at 1,696,000 million pro wrestling fans.

For the rest of 2019, does NXT on USA top AEW Dynamite again in viewership or for the first time in demos?
