After three straight weeks of “least watched non-holiday episode since 1997”, WWE has to be happy that Raw viewership rose to 2.21 million on Mon., Dec. 2. And that against stiff competition from a very entertaining Monday Night Football game between Seattle & Minnesota that had an audience of 14.03 million - the second best of the season for ESPN.
The show also only trailed football programming in 18 - 49 year old demographic rating.
The less good news is that viewers tuned out in big numbers as the show went along. That’s nothing new though, and hey! Wrestling Observer says that “20% first-to-third hour drop just missed the top 10 of all-time.”
Here are the numbers on that:
Hour one: 2.42 million
Hour two: 2.28 million
Hour three: 1.93 million
Make of it what you will. I’m guessing WWE is calling it a win, even if fans didn’t want to stick around for Rey Mysterio & pals vs. The OC.
