No surprises as WWE Backstage announces solid choices for Year-End Awards

The Slammys seem to be a thing of the past (or on loan to Jeopardy!, anyway). But WWE did hand out some Year-End awards on the Dec. 24 edition of FS1’s WWE Backstage.

Renee Young, Booker T, Christian, Maria Menounos & Ember Moon announced the nominees and winners in six categories:

Moment of the Year

Winner: Kofi Kingston’s WWE championship win at WrestleMania 35
Also nominated: Becky Lynch winning the Raw & SmackDown Women’s titles at WrestleMania 35, Natalya & Lacey Evans wrestling in Saudi Arabia, Braun Strowman tackling Bobby Lashley through an LED wall

Women’s Tag Team of the Year

Winner: Kabuki Warriors
Also nominated: The IIconics, Boss ‘N’ Hug Connection, Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross

Men’s Tag Team of the Year

Winner: The New Day
Also nominated: The Revival, The O.C., The Viking Raiders

Breakthrough Superstars of the Year

Winner: The Street Profits
Also nominated: Ricochet, The Viking Raiders, Nikki Cross

Female Superstar of the Year

Winner: Becky Lynch
Also nominated: Bayley, Charlotte Flair, Ronda Rousey

Male Superstar of the Year

Winner: Bray Wyatt
Also nominated: Seth Rollins, Brock Lesnar, Kofi Kingston
