We knew there would be traditional Survivor Series elimination matches at the 2019 edition of the event which bears that name. But we didn’t know much about them. Sasha Banks, Carmella & Dana Brooke are on the SmackDown Women’s team and...
We have one more piece of the puzzle now, though - and we won’t have to wait long for four more to fall into place.
WWE’s announced that Seth Rollins is the captain of the red brand’s men’s team, along with the usual rhetoric like “the rest of the Raw Superstars will be set on making an impression and earning the golden opportunity to join Rollins in the inter-brand battle.” WWE-speak aside, that’s interesting because they do make it clear the other four members of Rollins’ squad will be revealed on the Mon., Nov. 11 episode of Raw. That show was taped yesterday in Manchester, England (spoilers are here), and live reports from fans in attendance indicate the team announcement didn’t happen during anything they were shown. So the company has one hook to get viewers who’ve read those reports to tune in.
It’s also interesting because it involves Seth. The former Universal champion has been having an interesting year to say the least, and his supporters and detractors are watching closely to see how the company presents him. Is this a sign they’re forging ahead with him as the top male babyface on Monday nights? Or a vehicle to some other role?
We’ll have to watch Raw to find out, I guess.
Here’s the updated card for Nov. 24 in Rosemont, Illinois:
- Brock Lesnar (c) vs. Rey Mysterio for the WWE championship
- Bayley vs. Shayna Baszler vs. Becky Lynch
- The New Day vs. Viking Raiders vs. Undisputed ERA
- Team Raw (Seth Rollins + 4) vs. Team SmackDown (TBD) vs. Team NXT (TBD)
- Team Raw (TBD) vs. Team SmackDown (Sasha Banks, Carmella, Dana Brooke + 2) vs. Team NXT (TBD)
