Scarlett Bordeaux, Shotzi Blackheart headline latest WWE signing class

WWE.com

WWE’s latest Performance Center class was announced this morning (Tues., Nov. 5). It includes a couple names that are pretty well known to wrestling fans, both because of their work for prominent indies, and because their contract status has been rumor fodder for the last several weeks and months.

Getting top billing on the company’s website is former Impact, Ring of Honor, and AAA star Scarlett Bordeaux (real name Elizabeth Chihaia). The Smokeshow is more manager than wrestler, but she’s an entertaining performer WWE could do a lot with. It should be interesting to watch her career develop on wrestling’s biggest stages. Her signing will also increase interest in the complicated contract situation of her boyfriend, Killer Kross.

Next up is Shotzi Blackheart (Ashley Urbanski), whose signing was announced at an Evolve show in Atlanta last month. Most fans probably know her from her work in Gabe Sapolsky-booked promotions like Evolve and Shine, which is also how she landed on WWE Network due to her match on the latter’s 10th Anniversary Special which aired opposite AEW Fight For The Fallen.

It’s a small class, rounded out by Australian Indi Hartwell (Samantha De Martin), a 22 year old who’s worked some Shimmer shows here in the states, and referee Stephon Smith, a Baltimorean who’s worked for OVW and Evolve. But the key takeaway is probably that WWE is continuing to stock up on all kinds of female talent, adding to an already loaded NXT Women’s division that many have speculated WWE sees as a key weapon in the Wednesday Night War with All Elite.
