Lana has, from time to time, shared her unhappiness online with WWE booking and how the company utilizes her. Her husband Rusev does the same* - recently even tweeting to cast doubt on a rumor he’d signed a new contract with the company.
As we’ve seen in at least one case recently, re-upping with WWE doesn’t necessarily mean talent will stop posting about those kinds of issues. We’ll see if Lana (real name C.J. Perry) stops being salty. Pro Wrestling Sheet is reporting she’s inked a new five year deal to stick with WWE.
The contract allows Perry to work on outside projects, like Another Version of You, the independent romantic comedy film she & Rusev acted in and produced recently:
Sheet (and WWE Backstage)’s Ryan Satin says Rusev (real name Miroslav Barnyashev) has not re-signed yet, but is in the midst of contract negotiations with WWE.
Smart move? Love it or hate it, they’re in the midst of a program getting a lot of time on Raw. Now Lana will be presumably getting handsomely paid for it while also having the freedom to use her money & fame on side-projects.
Nice work if you can get it. Congrats to Lana.

UPDATE: The Superstar confirms the news, and heels it up a bit in the process...

Congrats!
* There’s long been talk Lana runs or at least occasionally posts on Rusev’s social media, so this both could be the work of the Ravishing Russian.
