The match
Daniel Bryan challenges Bray Wyatt for the Universal championship at tonight’s (Sun., Nov. 24, 2019) WWE Survivor Series pay-per-view (PPV) at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois.
The story
A few weeks ago, Bray Wyatt, having finally finished up his feud with Seth Rollins, was all set to show up to SmackDown as the new Universal champion. His first act was going to be an interview with The Miz on Miz TV. It never happened.
The travel issues WWE had getting out of Saudi Arabia after the Crown Jewel event led to Wyatt missing the show said interview was supposed to be conducted on. Instead, we had to wait a week for his first appearance on the blue brand as champ, and it was then he, in something of a surprise, attacked Daniel Bryan backstage. This came at a time when Bryan was being courted by Sami Zayn to come over to his side, where he can truly be himself.
The thing is, we don’t really know who Bryan is anymore. Maybe he doesn’t either, and that’s the intrigue here.
Bryan himself was later interviewed by The Miz, and admitted to being mentally unstable. His spin was that being mentally unstable is actually advantageous because, well, one would have to be if one wants to go up against someone like Wyatt. This is about Bryan winning the Universal championship, sure, but it’s much more about learning just who Daniel Bryan is today.
Perhaps we’ll know by the end of the night.
