One question looms over the NXT title match at Survivor Series

Pete Dunne vs. Adam Cole (c)

NXT championship match

There’s lots of history between these two men, and a lot at stake. But one question looms over the entire proceeding.

The Road to Survivor Series

The Bruiserweight and The Panama City Playboy spent a lot of time wrestling each other last year.

There were singles matches:

Tag bouts:

Trios:

And Triple Threats:

This year, Cole’s been riding high, holding onto his NXT title through several clashes with Johnny Gargano, while all his mates in Undisputed ERA claimed gold of their own. Dunne’s been rebuilding himself after losing the UK belt to WALTER. His British Strong Style allies have similarly come up short against Imperium.

Pete’s turned it around of late, culminating in his big win over Damian Priest & Killian Dain to earn this opportunity tonight. Cole wasn’t so lucky, but it was less his loss than how it happened...

What’s at stake

Triple H said in his more-shoot-than-work media conference call last night that all the talent was “healthy, for the most part” coming out of TakeOver: WarGames. That should mean the champ. WWE’s certainly promoting this match for Allstate Arena in Chicagoland as if he’ll be fine.

But we have to wonder, especially since his ERA allies will be tied up with their own matches (and probably nursing WarGames wounds of their own). So let’s kick it to the challenger with that looming question...
