When will WWE care about their midcard titles again?

On paper, this should be a very good pro wrestling match

If you toss AJ Styles, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Roderick Strong into a ring, how could you possibly have a bad match?

The story so far

To their credit there is some juice behind Styles and Strong heading into Survivor Series. The OC hates the Undisputed Era while the Undisputed Era hates the OC. Simple enough.

Nakamura’s standing in the match could use some more work, though Strong did just clock him with a flying knee on the most recent episode of NXT.

The build to Survivor Series

What’s a build? Styles has been focused on upstart Humberto Carrillo for the better part of a month. Nakamura has maybe had the quietest Intercontinental title reign in WWE history. While Strong is off doing mostly Undisputed Era things.

What kind of story could WWE drum up involving Styles, Nakamura , and Strong? Not sure, but something would be better than a big old nothing sandwich.

The go-home show

Ah there it is. Better late than never, as Friday night SmackDown finally gave fans a Styles vs. Nakamura vs. Strong physical confrontation.

Why are they fighting? Who cares! Something about brand supremacy and the color of your t-shirts? For the foreseeable future these are the stories WWE is going to give us every November. At least AJ Styles, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Roderick Strong will occupy the same squared circle on Sunday night.
