An updated look at the TakeOver: WarGames card

The card for TakeOver: WarGames on Sat., Nov. 23 has been shaken up a bit, and we still only have three matches booked. But there’s no reason to think NXT’s streak of really good-to-great PPVs (that’s what we should call them now that the black-and-gold is a “main roster” brand, right?).

The big change was caused by Johnny Gargano’s injury, as Matt Riddle will now face Finn Bálor. The seed for this feud was planted last week, and developed further on the Nov. 13 episode.

That means Riddle’s out of the men’s WarGames match. Shortly after that was announced, Keith Lee’s non-title win over North American champ Roderick Strong led to a run-in by Lee’s old nemesis Dominik Dijakovic. Tommaso Ciampa offered Dijakovic Riddle’s spot, but they’re still a man short for their two-rings one-cage showdown with Undisputed ERA.

Maybe when Dom and Adam Cole face off in a ladder match for the entry advantage on Nov. 20, Ciampa & Lee’s final team member will get involved.

Speaking of ladder matches, Io Shirai’s win over Mia Yim on Wednesday night gave Shayna Baszler’s team the numbers advantage for their WarGames with Rhea Ripley’s squad. And the arrival of NXT UK Women’s champion Kay Lee Ray as Shirai’s secret weapon means Shayna’s has her fourth. So the first ever women’s WarGames is all set.

That’s what we know. A Pete Dunne, Killian Dain & Damian Priest Triple Threat seems like a safe bet, but other than that I’m not sure what else Triple H has in store for us.

Let us know what you think, about what’s announced and what else we might have coming our way from Allstate Arena next Saturday, in the comments below.
